Jackson Hole Activities

February is a fantastic time to explore Jackson Hole. With ski season in full swing, abundant wildlife, and a serene winter landscape, it’s the perfect setting for a memorable getaway. To help you make the most of your long weekend, we’ve curated a detailed itinerary to take advantage of the winter season's best activities. Be sure to plan ahead and secure your vacation rental, as holiday weekends tend to fill up quick!

Friday: Sleigh Ride in the National Elk Refuge and Ice Skating in Town Square

Begin your weekend by checking into your accommodations. Whether you choose Teton Village, The Aspens, or the Town of Jackson, you’ll find yourself conveniently close to all the action.

Start your adventure with a visit to the National Elk Refuge, where you can embark on a horse-drawn sleigh ride. This tour offers an up-close view of thousands of elk that call the refuge home during the winter months. Along the way, you may also spot eagles, coyotes, foxes, bison, and more amidst the breathtaking Grand Teton landscape. Learn about the history of the National Elk Refuge and the importance of their conservation efforts from their knowledgeable guides.

Sleigh rides operate daily from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, with tickets available at the National Elk Refuge Visitor Center between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm.

In the evening, explore downtown Jackson. The iconic Town Square transforms into an outdoor ice rink during the winter. Skate beneath the famous elk antler arches and the glowing sign of the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar. Skates are available for rent on-site. The charming area surrounding Town Square is home to so many local businesses, restaurants, and art galleries to check out!

Saturday: Hit the Slopes and Experience Jackson’s Apres Ski Culture

A trip to Jackson isn’t complete without skiing. Renowned for its legendary powder and challenging terrain, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort in Teton Village is a skier’s paradise. With over 2,500 acres of terrain, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is the main ski and snowboard resort in Jackson Hole. It is located in the Teton Mountain Range, offering gorgeous panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. Be sure to purchase lift tickets in advance, as daily passes are limited.

After a day on the slopes, embrace Jackson’s vibrant après-ski culture. On Saturday, February 15th, head to Rendezvous Alpine Kitchen between 11:00 am and 2:30 pm for an energetic daytime party featuring a DJ. Enjoy delicious bites, fresh mountain air, and music while unwinding. Rendezvous Alpine Kitchen is accessible via the Bridger Gondola or Marmot Chairlift. The venue is located on the second floor of Rendezvous Lodge.

For a nighttime après-ski option, visit The Mangy Moose for Throw Down Weekend 2 at 8:00 pm. Known for its live music and spirited atmosphere, this event will feature performances by SkiiTour, Smalltown DJs, and N2N. Tickets are available online.

Sunday: Dogsled to the Granite Hot Springs

Spend your last day taking a dog sled ride to the Granite Hot Springs! These naturally heated spring pools are the perfect way to unwind and cap off your stay in Jackson.

Your guide from Iditarod Sled Dog Tours will greet you in Jackson at 8:00 am to begin your journey. During the full-day trip, you will get to admire beautiful winter landscapes from the warmth of the dog sled. Your knowledgeable musher guide will point out local wildlife along the way, such as deer, elk, moose, bighorn sheep, and bald eagles. A hearty lunch, hot soup, and beverages will be provided.

When you arrive at the Granite Hot Springs, you can soak and rejuvenate in the springs, which reach temperatures of up to 112°F. This oasis amongst the mountains is an ideal place to relax and take in the pristine winter scenery.

After your time at the Hot Springs, you will head back into town, arriving at approximately 4:30 p.m. We recommend grabbing an early dinner from one of Downtown Jackson’s cozy restaurants before heading back home to your rental. We recommend Local, a "local's" (no pun intended) favorite steakhouse on Town Square, or Hand Fire Pizza - a delectable pizza joint located in the historic Teton Theater, just a stone's throw from Town Square.
